Frequently Asked Questions
How do Indoor Boundary systems work?
Indoor Boundary systems function by emitting a radio signal detected by the receiver collar worn by your pet, mirroring the operation of outdoor Hidden Fence systems. When your pet nears the signal field, which is initially marked with flags for identification, the receiver collar emits an audible beep or vibration as a warning. Should your pet venture beyond this warning zone, a mild 'correction'—an unpleasant yet harmless sensation from the collar—swiftly follows. Through consistent training, your pet will learn to avoid these areas associated with the warning signals.
What is the light on the transmitter?
Your dog collar batteries show us the transmitter's status light which indicates whether it is powered on.
For the IB-100 model, the status light also serves to indicate the battery status; a red light indicates the need for charging. Refer to the Owner’s Guide for further details.
Please note: The green light may appear as a steady glow or blink, which is determined by the frequency setting of the transmitter.
How do I increase and decrease the signal range (the distance the signal radiates from the transmitter or the boundary wire) to make the “off-limits” avoidance zone area larger or smaller?
At the rear of the transmitter, you'll find a signal range knob.
- Rotate the knob towards the ‘+’ to expand the signal range, thereby enlarging the signal field.
- Rotate the knob towards the ‘-’ to reduce the signal range, consequently shrinking the signal field.
The IB-100 has a rechargeable battery. How long does the battery stay charged?
The battery life depends on both the rate and range settings you choose. The rate-setting dictates how often the signal is transmitted (fast, medium, or slow), while the range setting determines the distance the signal extends from the transmitter. For more details, consult the Owner’s Guide.
At maximum range setting, the battery charge lasts approximately:
- 4 days on 'Fast'
- 7 days on 'Medium'
- 30 days on 'Slow'Reducing the range setting will extend the average battery life between charges.
How large can I make the “off-limits” area?
Wireless Transmitters:
- IB-200 can be adjusted up to a maximum of 10 feet in diameter (5 feet in all directions from the transmitter.)
- IB-100 can be adjusted up to a maximum of 8 feet in diameter (4 feet in all directions from the transmitter)
With Wire:
When using the boundary wire, you can customize the size of your avoidance zone(s) based on:
- The length of the wire
- The signal range
- The distance between the separated wires (separated = signal is transmitted; twisted together = no signal).
See the Owner’s Guide for additional information.
Do I need separate collars for inside and outside?
The same collar can be used for the DogWatch outdoor fence and the DogWatch indoor products.
